Graduate Advising

Dr. Peter Moore, Assistant Professor of History, is coordinator of the History M.A. program. Incoming students should see Dr. Moore for their graduate advising. To do so, please contact him via e-mail at Peter.Moore@tamucc.edu. During posted office hours or by appointment, you are also invited to see him in his office, FC 279, or to call him at (361) 825-3495.

By the end of a student's first academic year (12 semester hours), she/he will identify a graduate advisor. In conjunction with their graduate advisor, each student will determine their preferred track. By the end of a student's second academic year (24 semester hours), the student and their graduate advisor will identify a graduate committee consisting of no less than two tenure-line history faculty.

The degree plan, signed by the student and graduate adviser, will become official when approved by the Dean. Any courses to remove deficiencies in undergraduate academic preparation will be included in the degree plan and must be taken in addition to the minimum number of graduate hours for the degree.
