The History Area welcomes Dr. Sandrine Sanos as an Assistant Professor of History. Dr. Sanos teaches modern European cultural and intellectual history, with an emphasis on women, gender, and sexuality..

Dr. Pat Carroll received a faculty development leave for Spring 2009 which he will use to complete his latest book manuscript, entitled New Spain's Social Trinity.

Dr. Laura Muñoz won the 2007 Claude A. Eggertsen Dissertation Prize from the History of Education Society.  The annual prize recognizes "the dissertation judged to be the most outstanding in the field of History of Education."  She received $1,000 and gave a short presentation at the organization's annual meeting in October. 

The History Area also welcomes Dr. David Seim as Visiting Assistant Professor of History for the 2008-09 academic year. Dr. Seim's interests include the U.S. Progressive Era through the interwar period, the history of technology and science, and public policy.

Dr. Peter Moore is transcribing and conducting background research on the journal of eighteenth-century Presbyterian minister Archibald Simpson.

Dr. Anthony Quiroz is researching and writing an institutional biography of the American GI Forum. He recently organized and hosted a significant academic conference on the history of the GI Forum, held here in Corpus Christi, 2008.

Dr. Robert Wooster is completing his eleventh book. This work chronicles the U.S. frontier military experience from the nation's founding until the Gilded Age.

Frantz Professor Dr. David Blanke is currently working on a history of the American film industry as well as an anthology on modern American consumer culture.
